Light into Frankfurt’s Ostend District

Light into Frankfurt’s Ostend District

The SAG branch in Langen was responsible for ensuring the Osthafenbrücke Frankfurt was cast in its best light.

In mid-December 2013, Frankfurt’s newest bridge – the Osthafenbrücke at the new European Central Bank building in the city’s Ostend district – was opened to traffic. The SAG branch in Langen was responsible for ensuring the structure was cast in its best light. The contract to install the bridge lighting was awarded by SRM (Strassenbeleuchtung Rhein-Main), a subsidiary of energy supplier Mainova.

24 lamps were installed in the bridge arch to illuminate the road, pedestrian routes and cycle paths. A total of 72 LED lighting strips on each side light the bridge arch and cables from below. By choosing the right type of lamp and optimizing the spacing between them, the number of lights installed was actually considerably less than originally planned.
